This is my entry for the Hidden Qualities contest, and my first contest submission to DA. Just a little poem that I came up with after reading over the rules. I think the poem and flower mixture works well with the overall message, art to me really is scattering ideas to the wind and letting them grow.

Big big thanks to ~princepoo for granting me permission to use his picture, even though he didn't need to. I love this piece, it fits so well with a poem in general. But outside of that, here is the poem:

Scattering of an Idea


Bursting from a bulging fruit
Seeds scatter into the winds
Rolling, dropping, carried or tossed
They find their paths out into the world
Little bundles of hope

Some will fall early
Perhaps eaten for strength,
Tossed into sterile dirt,
Drowned in seas of endless blue
Or crushed under a careless boot

A few might last longer
But experience a short end
Barely taking root
Before swept away again

To the few that remain things are no better
Pushing up through what little host they have
Creating the first delicate shoots of life
The first tangles of growth seen as a pest
And cut away before it can cause more damage

Time will pass
Winds will blow
Storms will batter the little shoot
Massive feet will stomp down
It will be kicked and pummeled
Too much of a pest to be nurtured

Strengthened by damage
And fueled by storms
A select few continue to grow
Gathering strength to push them higher
Defying all odds
And shattering the limits

Perhaps one little seed will make it this far
The only member of an exclusive club
But when its petals open and its colors are true
The seed transcends the world
And becomes Art
